Since 2008, the NFIP has been extended through a series of short-term measures. The program expired four times in 2010 resulting in lapses totaling 53 days. Those program lapses resulted in the delay or cancellation of more than 1,400 home closings per day, further damaging an already fragile housing market, according to Tester and Vitter.

Crude, vulgar and very sarcastic, James can be a hard person to get along with, let alone work with on the battlefield. Even in the most dire of situations, James will be seen cracking a joke here and there in order to relieve some of the stress in the atmosphere. This does not, however, discount from the fact that he is highly intelligent and did not receive his military status as a Sergeant First Class for nothing. Extremely resourceful, bold and courageous, he is one to count on to cover your backside. Sgt. James is well known for his determination and stubbornness to accomplish whatever mission given to him, regardless of the methods he uses.
Bio:
James was born on a large space station circling one of Saturn's moons called Rhea, otherwise known as Saturn V. Both of his parents were systems engineers having moved to the space station from Earth. They were responsible for overlooking the planet cracking operations revolving around the moon. However, this was no place for James to grow up in, considering his active and restless personality. James nearly failed his classes in grade school for refusing to do any of the assignments given to him. When asked by his counselor what the problem was and why he wasn't doing anything, he responded, "You just bore me..." It wasn't until a military recruiter team came to his school with a promotional video and flyers asking if anyone were interested in joining the armed forces did James become really interested in something. They offered 'places you've never seen...protecting your loved ones...honor and respect...lifetime benefits.' This piqued James' interest immediately, driving him to do further research about enlisting into the military. At the age of 18, James packed what little belongings he cared to bring with him and left his house with a note, telling them of where he was going. He was met with the recruiters from years before and left at once.
It has been 15 years since then. Through years of grueling training, exercises and missions, James rose up the ranks to Sergeant First Class. He graduated Sniper School within 4 years of having joined and remains well-renowned for his consistent accuracy. Having proved himself time and time again, he was recommended for numerous medals and honors including Distinguished Service, Expert Marksman, Honorable Service, Special Operations, and the Silver star. There was not a single person in that sector that did not know of his name.
One year, a special mission was given to him and a small team. A group of rebels on a nearby colony were planning to uproot and overtake the colonial government in the near future and it was assigned to Sgt. James and his team to put down the riots with or without force. However, the mission briefing did not include all pertinent information, including the number of rebels there were. Their numbers rising up to the thousands, Sgt. James saw no success possible. Having no other option, they decided to assassinate the man rallying all of the rebels and responsible for spreading false literature about the colonial government in hopes of stalling the rebellion long enough for reinforcements to arrive. They were able to secretly place tight-impact bombs around the structure the leader of the rebellion was staying. However, when Sgt. James spoke over the intercom to his teammates to get out of the building, interference caused that message to never get through. Sgt. James ignited the bombs, killing his entire team along with over 70 civilians and 10 government officials that the leader had been holding hostage. The mission being a complete failure, Sgt. James was stripped of several of his honors and suspended from his duties until further notice was given. Instead, he would be on equipment duty aboard the USG Atlanta.
That further notice was given today saying that his services were needed once more for a small-scale rescue operation aboard the USG Bloodstone...

BE Aerospace (Nasdaq: BEAV - News), supplier of aircraft interiors, consistently posted high growth numbers all through 2011. Its bottom line in the first three quarters of 2011 grew by 49%, 47%, and 59%, respectively. In its latest quarter, BE Aerospace's income rose by a staggering 84% compared to last year.
What's fueling such growth? Let's dig in.
A peek at the quarter
In the fourth quarter, BE improved its revenue by 21%, increasing it to $655 million. After adjusting for one-time acquisition and debt repayment costs, net income of $57.3 million translated into earnings of $0.60 per share, which beat Street expectations.
Basking in the commercial atmosphere
Each of BE's three segments -- commercial aircraft, consumables management, and business jet -- saw a double-digit growth in sales in the last quarter. However, what stole the show was the impressive 25% revenue growth of BE's commercial aircraft business, which accounts for more than half of the company's top line.
A positive commercial aerospace environment benefited BE. Last year, global passenger traffic saw a 6% increase. Growing air travel has pumped up demand for new and renovated jets.
Also, aircraft makers Boeing and Airbus have been increasing their production capacity to meet the growing demand for commercial airplanes. This means more orders for BE. In the quarter, BE won a valuable $800 million contract from Boeing, which makes it the exclusive manufacturer of Boeing's aircraft toilets.
What next?
Looking forward, in 2012, the International Air Transport Association expects a further 4% increase in global passenger traffic and capacity -- good news for BE. Moreover, the company has a solid backlog that climbed 35% to $7.9 billion.
BE is expected to further benefit from an increase in Boeing and Airbus' production capacity. However, the company's vast client base ensures it doesn't have to rely on a few customers or being severely affected by the fiscal challenges of economies such as the U.S. and Europe.
These factors justify BE Aerospace's raised earnings forecast for 2012 to $2.75, which is just above analysts' estimates.

According to a memo published by the moderate think tank, Third Way, and highlighted by The New Yorker's Ryan Lizza, the 2012 election will come down to a fight over truly independent voters who cast ballots for Obama in 2008. Other factors like turnout will come into play, but the document suggests that one of the Obama campaign's central tasks will be to persuade its former supporters to back the candidate again.

The Third Way memo, written by Michelle Diggles and Lanae Erickson, says the "Obama Independents" are disproportionately:
-moderate
-concerned with the economy
-hit hard by the recession

-racially diverse
-young
-less religious
-more personally connected to their candidate
This provides some clues to the Obama re-election strategy, namely that the campaign is already courting young, more secular women -- exactly the cohort that could be won over by the Administration's recent decision to require Catholic universities and hospitals to provide employee health insurance plans covering contraception. A new poll from the Public Religion Research Institute provides more support for this strategy, noting that 58% of Millennials say "religiously affiliated colleges and hospitals should have to provide coverage that includes contraception," while 54% of women feel this way. In addition, the PRPI poll found that more than half (52%) of Catholics agree.

Aligning himself with the interests of women is crucial if Obama is to win a second term. He garnered 53% of women voters in 2008, besting McCain by 13 percentage points. Hennessey and Parsons also report that Administration officials are defending the decision on Catholic universities and hospitals by saying it protects the rights of employees of those organizations, many of whom are not Catholic. However, the health insurance plans (and prescription drugs plans) offered by Catholic institutions, like any other employer, are often partly funded by the institutions themselves. Lest there be any doubt that the Obama folks see this as a political issue worth highlighting, the campaign just put out a side-by-side comparison of the Massachusetts health plan's contraception coverage rules and those of the Affordable Care Act. Pointers: Sleep when your baby sleeps, Marter said. ?This may mean letting the laundry or scrapbooks wait and forcing yourself to nap. It might mean going to bed at 8 p.m., so that you can sleep during your baby?s longest stretch.?
What if your baby isn?t really sleeping? Marter suggested working with your pediatrician and reading other resources such as Healthy Sleep Habits, Healthy Child by Dr. Marc Weissbluth. If feedings are the reason your family isn?t getting much sleep, she also suggested checking out the La Leche League, and figuring out a feeding schedule that works best.
Ask loved ones for support and, if it?s financially feasible, hire help for household chores, a babysitter so you can take daytime naps or a night nanny, Marter said.
And work as a team. For instance, moms who are breastfeeding can pump so their partners or loved ones take turns doing the feedings.
Sexual intimacy declines after having a baby, and not surprisingly, this can negatively affect your relationship. ?Because sexuality is intensely personal and sexual connection is a major component of romantic relationships, sexual dysfunction or disconnection can become a significant problem for many couples,? Marter said.
The decline happens for many reasons. Physicians typically suggest that women abstain from intercourse for 4 to 6 weeks after childbirth. Even after that time, ?women may experience or fear pain from intercourse due to the effects of delivery, an episiotomy, perineal tearing, and/or vaginal dryness due to hormone fluctuations,? Marter said. Couples also experience a decline in desire because of busy schedules, body image issues, fatigue and other concerns.
Pointers: Expect that intimacy will decline after childbirth. This is normal considering the sleep deprivation, new responsibilities and need for the woman?s body to heal, Marter said. Avoid viewing lack of sex as rejection or a sign of trouble in your relationship.
Be close and intimate in other ways, such as kissing, touching, snuggling or spooning, Marter said. Make time to physically connect with each other. Staying home and watching a movie is one way, she said.
?Good sex requires good communication.? Marter suggested talking openly about your needs, preferences and fantasies with your partner. These are some questions she suggested raising: ?What is good about [your sex life]? When was it the best and why? What do you each desire? What schedule seems to work best for you? What gets in the way of having more sex??
Also, work on your emotional connection. For instance, ?Create at least 20 minutes per day to connect and talk about things other than the responsibilities with household and baby,? Marter said.
In Marter?s practice, the most prevalent problem for couples is division of labor. Resentments inevitably peak when one partner feels like they?re tackling more tasks and working harder. ?They may compare and become competitive or defensive about their responsibilities, schedules or the pros and cons of their work or role,? she said.
They also might glorify each other?s positions, Marter said. A stay-at-home dad might think his wife?s day at work is filled with swanky business lunches, interesting projects and a quiet commute, while he?s dealing with temper tantrums and dirty diapers. His wife might imagine him playing, cuddling and connecting with their child, while she deals with a difficult boss, endless deadlines and concerns over job security. ?Then, when an issue like who is going to do the laundry comes up, the misunderstandings have created an environment ripe for conflict,? she said.
One of the problems is that couples usually don?t have a plan for how they?re going to divvy up responsibilities. Marter finds that many couples make assumptions about who?ll do what ? often based on how their parents did things ? which typically leads to confusion and conflict.
Pointers: Map out what your routine and responsibilities will look like, Marter said. And make sure it?s fair to both partners. Again, couples get into trouble when responsibilities are vague. One of Marter?s clients wanted her husband to help out in the mornings, but the couple ended up bickering instead. ?By sitting down and reviewing the mornings tasks, the husband was able to select several items that his wife agreed would be helpful for him to manage,? she said.
When you?re figuring out fairness, remember that a relationship requires give and take. ?For example, the husband of a client who is a teacher really steps it up during her grading periods and she picks up the slack when he travels for work,? Marter said.
Also, lower your standards, and let some things go. Another client of Marter?s, who was super stressed and worn out, used to iron all her baby?s clothes. Of course, getting enough sleep supersedes ironing. ?Focus on the big things and let the small stuff go,? Marter said.
?The transition to family is simultaneously joyous, miraculous and wondrous and one of the most challenging life experiences and opportunities for growth,? Marter said. It helps for couples to have realistic expectations about parenthood and their relationship and to remain committed to working as a team.
