Hope-Filled Living Magazine...: Tea Party and Skin Cancer

I went to a dermatologist a year ago to have him check a spot on my leg that I thought looked suspicious. He said it was just a skin rash, not to worry...it would go away. After watching it grow three times in size, I went to see a different dermatologist and found out that I have skin cancer.....she removed it and we are waiting to see if I will need further surgery if it has spread deeper into the tissue of my leg.So glad I went for a second opinion. This is the second time I have had skin cancer removed. I am a fair-skinned red-head who does not tan....I just burn! No matter how much sunscreen I wear, my skin still seems to burn. This is challenging, as I am a water person and spend a great deal of time boating and swimming in the summer. My mother recently went through a long ordeal when her doctor discovered that she had malignant melanoma on her nose. It had spread so she ended up having reconstructive surgery after the cancer was removed.

I go back to my new doctor in a couple of weeks for "Mole Mapping"....where they look at your entire body and make notes of the size and shape of any moles or the like on your body. After that, I will get checked every three months. Have any of you ever had this done? Please, please, please go once in awhile and get your skin checked. If there is something that concerns you and not your doctor, get a second opinion.

I have taken some time away from blogging this summer to get some things in order, but look forward to returning to my blog in the coming weeks.

I am going to a Tea party themed bridal shower on Sunday at my brothers house....which backs up to a lake. I hope we have nice weather. The grounds are perfect for a tea party. Lovely rolling hills and countryside.

I will try to snap some photos of the ladies all dressed in their finest! (Yes, we are supposed to dress the part)...I will be thinking of you, dear Celia!!!

XOXO,
